Week 6
Motif Development
To begin our piece we started from the beginning as we had the clearest idea of what we wanted there. We developed the marching motif from week four and created about a minute of work. We are planning on finding a 120 bpm metronome sound for this section as in most marches this is the speed used. Here is a recording of what we created.
Our next steps are to clean what we have made and decide if we need more material for this section.
Music
We then looked at some pieces of music for other sections of the dance. We listened to pieces by Hans Zimmer, John Williams and anything from a soundtrack to war/action films. We have chosen a track from War Horse for the PTSD section which we will all create a few bars of movement for each over half term to develop when we return.
I really like how you've decided to use the 120 bpm metronome as the speed for the march, it will make the section very effective and show the intention of the piece. Did you receive any feedback for your piece? How will you use the feedback for future sessions?
ReplyDeleteThank you for this comment, our feedback was mostly concerning the clarity of lines and making sure everyone was the same which will definitely make the piece more dramatic and this section more effective.
DeleteI really like the gestures and how you developed them as you can clearly recognise each gesture even once it’s been developed into a larger movement. This is great because you can use them throughout your piece without it being the same exact gesture each time! I like the idea of showing all wars end in the same death and destruction. How do you plan to portray this to the audience?
ReplyDeleteThank you for your response. Throughout the piece this is the feeling that will come because of the time line of events we have created however the minute silence at the end we think will be a big indicator for the emotions to settle in with the audience and create the final picture we want to show.
DeleteYou have very interesting ideas and it's really good that you are conciously trying to link everything back to your stimulus. You mentioned in your last blog that you wanted to include a cliffhanger at the end, what kind of music are you thinking for this section?
ReplyDeleteThank you, we decided to end the piece with 'The last post' as it is to include the minute silence of remembrance day. The song is very emotional and the movements we have created at the end of track leave the audience wondering what would be next.
